Red Shed Poetry Competition

Red Shed Poetry Competition

The fourth Red Red Shed Readings Open Poetry Competition has now been launched. Once again sponsored by Mocca Moocho cafe, the finest independent coffee house in Wakefield, this year's competition is proud to have Pete Lancaster as its sole judge. Pete, author of the acclaimed collection, The Blue Bridge, taught English for many years and is a prominent poet in Wakefield and beyond. He takes his inspiration from ramblings around Wakefield and these in turn stimulate an examination of an interior landscape of memory, loss and further exploration.

This year's competition, in a credit crunch busting move, has retained entry fees at their original 2009 levels. Take that, Mr Osborne! (Although it has to be said, in the interests of consistency, prize levels have remained untouched as well.) But don't miss out!  If nothing else, the competition is good fun; all competitors receive a copy of the judge's comments, hence the request for a stamped addressed envelope, and an invitation to the awards event. (Details to be confirmed.) So have a go and good luck!
